Prime Software Updates

To update the software on your Prime board, you will need:

Windows XP/7/8/10 operating system

A USB to mini USB cable

IMPORTANT:
Software is labelled. The software for a Prime model marker will have Prime in its filename. Never load software onto your gun that does not match the gun name.

If you are unsure or require help, ask a MacDev tech before proceeding.

A mini USB cable

Download and open the update software

Download the latest utility here: MacDev Flash V4
(the current latest PRIME software version is 1.16)

After downloading the utility, unzip it to a folder, then open the folder. You will see the utility executable file MDFLASH4.exe. Double click this file to open the utility.

(it must be unzipped first)The utility window should open as shown on the right. The status should show disconnected.

The open file button is used to open the new software. It is greyed out when no board is connected.

The program button is used to load software onto the board. It is greyed out when no board is connected.

Access the board by opening your grip. Power on the board, and plug in the USB cable. Plug the other end of the cable into a free USB port in your windows PC.

Press and release the lock button on your board. If done correctly, the LED will change to Blue, and the OLED screen will change to the word “USB”.

If this does not happen, recheck that the USB cable is correctly connected to both the board and the computer. If unsuccessful, try a different USB port on your computer.

The status should now change to “Connected” on the update utility window. It will also show you the current software version on your board.

You will notice that the open file icon is now available. Click it, and navigate to the subdirectory of your utility folder named software. Select a file with the extension .hex and choose open.

Once done correctly, the program icon will become available. Press it to load the software to your board.

Programming will commence, and the progress bar will show you the completion rate. Once finished, the board will automatically detach and reboot.

Once this is done, you can remove the USB cable safely and use the gun. You do not need to eject the USB it is already done.

NOTE: If you change your mind, and would like to exit the utility without programming your board, you can use the disconnect button.
